A Planimetric Map is performed to show the horizontal relationship of features on a site to accurately show their placement.  Aspects of this are sometimes shown on boundary surveys, but typically not to the scale shown on a planimetric map.  This type of map is often in conjunction with a topographic map to show the location of pertinent or even hazardous features prior to construction.
